Laura Hartwig is one of the most traditional wineries in Colchagua, with more than 30 years in wine production. This beautiful boutique winery is well known for its colonial architecture and being located in an environment of extraordinary beauty and for its exclusive production of Reserva and Gran Reserva wines.
This private tour begins with a brief description of the Colchagua Valley and the Laura Hartwig Winery in a horse drawn carriage, passing on to the wine cellar where the process of winemaking is explained. There is also the opportunity to see the barrel room and the tour concludes with a tasting of Chardonnay and 2 red Reserva wines with accompaniments.
The Colchagua Museum, recently named one of the top six "People's Museums" of 2011 by "The Independent News" is a real jewel in the valley. Here's just a partial list of exhibits: Dominican amber, pre-Columbian ceramics and textiles, the largest collection of Mapuche (indigenous Chilean) silver jewelry, artifacts from the Catholic church in Chile, arms from WWII, articles from Chile's early governors and artists, a collection of completely restored carriages, a car museum with beautifully restored early automobiles and the first motorcycle in Chile, mastodon fossils, steam engines and railroad cars, typical early agricultural machinery used in the Colchagua Valley, and much, much more... even the most reluctant to visit museums can have some fun.
This tour is available daily at 08:30 hs. (hotel pick-up time).
